Watercraft

Hey Charles this is really cool!!

I've been organizing some photos of mine last night and today, scanning some for some project that may or may not ever happen. So you have inspired me to put some up here of a certain persuasion:

Cangrejos Point, Trinidad 11/98 - Picnic Spot

This guy took us snorkling! (Snorkling Guy, Buccoo Bay, Tobago 11/98)

Water Taxi Munchies - Bocas Del Toro, Panama 3/00

Perfume River from Thien Mu Pagoda, Hue, Vietnam 4/01

The elegant 500 year old pagoda & monastery was a hot-bed of political dissent during Ngo Dinh Diem's oppressive polices in the 60's. The Monk that set himself on fire in protest in Saigon was from here. The car that he drove down there with is in the back. I remember relaxing in the gardens of the monastery and watching the young monks practice dexterity skills like walking on tight ropes...

Peering Creature - Mekong River Delta, Vietnam 4/01

We bought some veggies & rice balls from these friendly folks. Notice the tidal influence on the banks. We are just about dozen kilometers from the cambodian border and 150+ kilometers from the actual sea. For more info on the environmental history of the Mekong River Delta check out David's site.

I had just crossed and turned around and took this pic of the people loading up where I just had stepped off. I remember my cargo pants were rolled up to my knees and my bare feet were in the softest warmest mud. It was quite comforting..the mud. (Crossing, West Bengal, India 6/01)

We ran into these guys and bought our lunch. Made a curry out of 'em..yum! (Sunderbans, West Bengal, India 6/01)

For more information on the Sunderbans checkout this random site. The area is truly unique both culturally & ecologically. Its really remote... It involves buses, boats, & cycle rickshaws to get there. it's also the first place I've been where everyone was shorter than me....

Noah - near Kottayam, Kerala, India 6/01

Right after I took this picture I was told by a friendly worker on my left that it was illegal to take pictures here because it was under some sorta Navy jurisdiction. I noticed that he was unloading a bucket of juvenile hammerhead sharks, and got into a real interesting conversation about the culture of fishing. (Fisheries Terminal, Karachi, Pakistan 7/01)
